Sam Smith
Head Chef
Originally from England, and with a childhood spent in Thailand, Sam brings a rich cultural and culinary style to his role at The Agrarian Kitchen. After completing a degree in Psychology and Philosophy at the University of Nottingham, Sam followed his true calling to the kitchen, training in some of London’s most respected restaurants, including The River Café and Chez Bruce.
A chance encounter with a Tasmanian - now his partner - eventually brought Sam to Lutruwita/Tasmania, where he quickly made his mark on the local food scene, including as Head Chef at Templo. Sam joined The Agrarian Kitchen in 2021, rising swiftly through the ranks from Sous Chef to Head Chef, thanks to his dedication, skill and leadership in the kitchen. Renowned for his exceptional pasta-making abilities, Sam also leads the cooking school’s pasta classes, where guests experience first-hand his deep knowledge and passion.
